One of the biggest misconceptions I had when I was starting to change my eating habits was "healthy food tastes like cardboard". Well, considering my experience with healthy foods were things like high fructose corn syrup filled shakes in a can, processed beyond recognition TV dinners with the word "lean" in them, and boiled Brussels sprouts... yeah, they all did kind of taste like cardboard. Or worse! (side note- don't boil Brussels sprouts. Just don't. Roast them & they are AMAZING!) As I've changed my diet, my taste buds have also changed. I'm now able to appreciate the natural flavor found in fruits and vegetables. I've also learned how to enhance the flavors with the following "freebies" as I like to call them. Playing around with different spices has opened up my eyes & stomach so many legit healthy foods! So let's talk about these freebies...
