THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH!
It's no secret.
I am pretty much an overgrown child. I love to have fun. Cut food into silly shapes. Create themes for everything. Think outside of the box. So when my husband and I decided that this fall would be the perfect time to take the kids back to Disney, I knew that I wanted to have fun with it! Our last trip was 3 years ago. The kids were quite a bit younger (1 1/2, 3, and 5). We managed to keep it a secret until we were boarding the bus to the resort. It was awesome, but pretty stressful! I had to pack and prepare at night after they went to bed and I feel like we missed out on a lot of excitement because they were kind of blindsided. Now that they are a little bit older (4, 6, and will just have turned 9) we want to involve them in the planning more. They have their own personal favorites. We want to educate them on the Disney classics. And honestly, I am so excited about this trip I may have exploded if I kept it in much longer! We set up a simple scavenger hunt with 8 Disney themed clues. At each location was an envelope with a word. Once they collected all 8 envelopes, they put the message together to reveal our secret. Our clues: 1. When things are frozen you can use these to glide around (ice skates) 2. You can't swing through the trees like Tarzan, but you can climb up the ladder into one (treehouse) 3. If Belle came to our house you would probably find her with her nose stuck in a... (book/bookshelf) 4. If Cinderella lost a shoe, she could always find a new pair here (my 4 year old daughter's huge shoe bin... she has a LOT of shoes! haha) 5. To battle the dark side, you'd need one of these (light sabers) 6. Happy unbirthday! Join the Mad hatter for a cup of (tea/play tea set) 7. Mirror mirror on the wall, I hope the evil stepmother doesn't poison our... (apples) 8. This would be a cozy spot for Tinkerbell to visit (fairy garden) We sent them on a walk with our close friends who were over for dinner, and when they came back they found this note on the door. We then handed them their first clue and off they ran!
Of course I had plans to take video of the entire thing, but being the #hotmessmama that I am... my phone ran out of storage space. Oops.
My husband managed to record most of it so I will have to go through it and see what I can use. I did go live on Facebook while they were opening the envelopes to solve the puzzle though, so for your viewing pleasure I present the completely unedited and real life reactions of the kids...
Stay tuned throughout the next 2 months as we countdown to Disney with lots of fun!
